The TOP TEN most overused Fonts in American Logo Design. 1: Signature: The cornerstone of almost every sign shop in America's font arsenal. You can't drive 5 miles without seeing it. 2: Times New Roman: Just because it's the default font on almost everything doesn't mean it should be in your logo design, it's dead, dead, dead. 3: Curlz: How many bakeries, coffee shops, shoe stores or kid's clothing shops are going to use this one before it kills us all? 4: Papyrus: We get it, you want your logo to look Egyptian? No wait, we don't get it. 5: Arial: Seriously? 6: Courier: Are you starting to see a pattern here? You should, most of these overused fonts are overused because they are the default fonts that come with Windows. Think outside the box, there are about 20,000 free fonts online! www.SearchFreeFonts.com 7: Kids, Kidz, Etc: To be fair this is a very useful font when designing kid related logos, but it's been done to death, kid handwriting is cute though. 8: Microgamma: Looks like something straight out of Star Trek and is WAY overused anytime someone even mentions "Futuristic." 9: Lucida Handwriting: One of the original handwritten type fonts, now there are literally hundreds of others out there, pick one of those. 10: Monotype Corsiva: The mother of all cursive fonts, I can't count the number of clients that have INSISTED on using this font. If your logo contains one of the above mentioned fonts don't freak out, it's not the end of the world. If you just had your logo designed give it a couple of years, if you take an honest look at your logo then and it seems a little dated, it may be time for a new font. If you've been in business a while and your old designer used one of these fonts way back when, it is now outdated x2, it might just be time for a logo re-design or update.
